Who can nominate a golf hole?
Any individual or club may nominate a golf hole. Certain information is required along with contact information. Click here to access the nomination form.

What is the difference between Legendary and Honorary categories?
Legendary inductees are reserved for golf holes renowned throughout the world that have achieved the highest recognition among golfers. Honorary inductees posses the highest qualities of strategy, enjoyment, memorability, aesthetics, and acclaim. Honorary inductees are golf holes that have achieved high status within a region or category of golf course. Honorary inductees account for the majority of inductees.

Is there a cost to nominate a golf hole?
No. The nomination process requires no fee or commitment beyond the required information needed to make a nomination.

Does the nomination have to be completed on-line?
In general, yes. However, you may always contact the Golf Hole Hall of Fame if there are extenuating circumstances that prevent the on-line nomination process to be fulfilled.

Is there a cost upon acceptance into the Golf Hole Hall of Fame?
No. Inductees are accepted into the Golf Hole Hall of Fame with no charge. Materials, such as certificates and plaques, are made available to confirmed inductees via the Inductee Portal, a secure website accessed from the homepage with credentials provided to management at inductee clubs.

What is the deadline for nominations?
There is no deadline for nominations as submittals may be made throughout the calendar year.

How long does the review process take?
The review process varies depending on the geographic location of the golf hole and the availability of Golf Hole Hall of Fame Review Panel Members. In general, a review is completed within three to six months.

Who conducts the review?
A Review Panel evaluates golf holes for the criteria of strategy, enjoyment, memorability, aesthetics, and acclaim. The panel is comprised of professional golfers, golf writers, golf and travel executives, and members of national and regional golf associations. Panel members are selected to provide diverse, professional and unbiased evaluations of nominated golf holes subject to the criteria established for admission to the Golf Hole Hall of Fame.

How are the reviews conducted?
Panel members conduct reviews through a combination of on-site visits to the golf course, previous visits, and evaluation of submitted and available background materials. Reviews are held anonymously between panel members. A certain number of reviews is required to complete the review process.

What materials are required if a golf hole is inducted?
Depending on the completeness of information and materials submitted with the nomination, additional materials typically consist of photographs of the golf hole, additional text and background information. This information forms the profile in the Golf Hole Hall of Fame. In many instances this information is sought during the review process to assist the review panel.

Is the process political or influenced by the media?
No. The review process is private and anonymous with reviewers working individually. Review Panel Members who have an association with a golf club are held to standards that restrict their participation in review of golf holes at that club. The Golf Hole Hall of Fame is not associated with a periodical or media company and receives no compensation from the media.

Can a golf hole be nominated a second time?
Yes. There is no limit on the number of times a golf hole can be submitted for nomination. While determinations are final following any given nomination, the Golf Hole Hall of Fame recognizes that changes to golf holes and other factors may lead to different evaluation results in subsequent nominations. However, absent of significant improvements or new factors, new nominations of previously nominated golf holes are not encouraged.

What happens if a golf hole is remodeled after being inducted?
The Golf Hole Hall of Fame is a permanent collection of golf holes, each selected for their outstanding qualities. In the event that a golf hole is significantly altered following induction, or may no longer exist, the Golf Hole Hall of Fame reserves the right to provide qualifying information concerning the inductee, but the inductee remains a permanent part of the collection. Information concerning changes to an inductee may be directed to inquiries@golfholehalloffame.org by any individual or club.
